An old alder reaching out over the sea on a quiet winter day.

This photograph was created during a calm and mist-filled day at Uutiskuvanvuori in the outer archipelago of Rymättylä. The shoreline terrain is rugged and demanding, yet descending carefully toward sea level revealed a striking presence shaped by time and exposure.

Growing directly from the rocky shore, the alder stands resilient against wind, water, and long seasons. Bare branches form a strong, graphic silhouette against the soft, muted tones of the misty sea. In its stillness, the tree reflects quiet endurance — strength shaped by harsh conditions and persistence rather than force.

Endurance explores contrast between solidity and fragility, land and water, structure and haze. A moment of balance where resilience becomes visible through restraint.
